Washington, D.C.—The American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) has launched a new Internet site offering the most comprehensive information resource available on one of the year’s most important federal legislative issues—reauthorization of the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA-21).
The new site, www.tmaw.com, launched in mid-July and updated daily, offers transportation construction industry professionals, transportation advocates, congressional offices and media a “one-stop shop” on issues and developments related to reauthorization of the federal transportation programs. The highway, transit, air and rail programs must be reauthorized before October 1 or federal transportation aid to the states stops.
The www.tmaw.com site was developed as part of ARTBA’s “Transportation Makes America Work!” (TMAW) TEA-21 reauthorization education campaign. Through TMAW, ARTBA is supporting expanded reauthorization-related economic and policy research, print and radio advertising, opinion polling, coalition activities, industry outreach, special publications, seminars, conferences and events.
The www.tmaw.com site is seamlessly linked to the interactive ARTBA Grassroots Action Center, established in Oct. 2000 and found at www.artbagrassroots.org. Among its many features, the ARTBA Grassroots Action Center provides detailed biographic information and voting records for all members of Congress and allows industry professionals to communicate directly with the White House and their Washington representatives via e-mail.
The ARTBA TEA-21 reauthorization communications program also includes the toll-free “ARTBA Action Hotline,” (1-888-448-2782) featuring daily audio updates and a direct, no cost phone patch through to the White House and all congressional offices.
ARTBA, which marked its 100th anniversary last year, is the transportation construction industry’s consensus voice in the Nation’s Capital. The industry ARTBA represents helps generate more than $200 billion annually in U.S. economic activity and sustains more than 2.2 million American jobs.
The Southern California Contractors Association (SCCA) is the California State Chapter of ARTBA for the southern half of the state. For information on membership or other questions regarding this important issue, contact the SCCA office at 323-726-3511.
